You do not need long classes to improve your English. Short daily routines in reading, listening, speaking and writing add up quickly.

Learning English for work: ten-minute daily habits

Good English opens doors to better jobs, online work and international clients. The most common mistake learners make is waiting for a large block of free time. Ten focused minutes every day usually beats two hours once a week.

Minute-by-minute plan

Minutes 1 to 3: Read. Choose a short article, a news item or a blog post at a comfortable level. Underline three words you do not know.

Minutes 4 to 6: Learn. Look up the three words, write a sentence for each and add them to a list or flashcard app.

Minutes 7 to 8: Listen. Play a short video or audio clip. Listen once without text, then once more with subtitles if available.

Minutes 9 to 10: Write. Write two or three sentences about your day or about the article using at least one new word.

Speak every day

Talk to yourself in English while you cook or walk. Describe what you see or what you plan to do. Record a one-minute voice note and listen to it, noticing mistakes. If you can, practise with a friend or a language partner.

Focus on useful vocabulary

Learn words for your field, such as "invoice", "delivery", "deadline", "customer" and "feedback". Prepare phrases for common work situations: introducing yourself, asking for clarification, making a polite request and apologising for a delay.

Learn from your mistakes

Keep a small notebook of errors you make and their corrections. Review it weekly. You will notice patterns, such as confusing "their" and "there", and you can work on them directly.

Use free resources wisely

Free videos, podcasts, news sites and library books are plentiful. Choose a few sources and stick with them instead of jumping between dozens.

Do not fear mistakes

Everyone who learns a language makes mistakes. Native speakers also make them. What matters is that you keep communicating and learning.

Track progress

Once a month, write a short paragraph on the same topic and compare it with the previous one. You will see clear improvement.

Stay consistent

Link your ten minutes to an existing habit, like after breakfast. A small, steady habit will change your English more than occasional bursts.
