Legal ways to enjoy music and films online without risking your phone

Everyone likes good music and films. The problem is that many "free download" pages are full of fake buttons, harmful apps and scams. Safer choices exist.

Why avoid pirated copies

• They can hide malware that steals data or damages your phone.
• Pop-ups and fake download buttons trick you into installing unwanted apps.
• Artists, writers and crew do not get paid for their work.

Safer options

1. Free streaming with adverts. Many official platforms offer free, ad-supported music and videos.
2. Official channels. Many artists and film makers share songs, trailers and full works on their own verified pages.
3. Subscription services. If you use one often, compare plans and look for data-saving or offline options. Check that it is official before you pay.
4. Libraries and community events. Some libraries and cultural centres offer free screenings, music and books.
5. Public domain and creative works. Some works are shared openly by their creators under free licences.

Stay safe while you browse

• Install apps only from official stores.
• Do not tap "download" buttons that look different from the page.
• Keep your phone updated.
• Be careful when a site asks you to install something to watch a film.

Support the people you enjoy

If you love an artist, follow their official pages, share their work, and buy music or tickets when you can. That keeps the creative community alive.
